Privacy Policy and Help
For the WitDrive app on iPhone, CarPlay and Apple Watch. Effective November 2, 2026.
Privacy Policy
WitDrive has no accounts, no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking. The developer runs no server for the app and does not receive your location, trips, costs or other personal data.
Your location stays on your device, except when weather features send coordinates to Apple to get a forecast or when you choose to share your location, as described below. Speed camera checks run on your device.
Data stored on your device
- Radio stations you add, including any logo you choose
- Fuel and charging entries, vehicle type, and car reminder dates
- Your parking spot and the speed cameras you save
- Trip times and driving scores
- Incident records, which can include time, location, speed, impact force and weather
- The emergency contact name and phone number you type in
- Your settings, such as language and speed unit
This data can be included in your own iPhone backups, depending on your iOS settings. Alerts and live speed can also be sent to your own paired Apple Watch.
When data leaves the app
Speed camera locations are built into the app, and the check for countries that restrict camera alerts runs on your device. Data leaves the app in these cases:
| Action | When it happens | What is shared |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Weather (WeatherKit) | Opening Weather Forecast, or while Rain/Storm Alerts are on during Driving Mode | Coordinates of your position or points ahead on your heading, sent to Apple only to get the forecast. WitDrive does not store them or send them to any other server. |
| Share Location or Emergency SOS | You choose a person or app and send the message yourself | Your coordinates, to the people and apps you choose |
| Apple Maps | You tap to search for places, or open directions or a saved location | The search term or the destination coordinates. Apple Maps then works under Apple's own privacy policy and location permission. |
| Apple speech recognition | Voice Commands, only while you hold the button | Your voice, which Apple may process on its servers. Your coordinates are not included. |
| Radio stations and websites you add | Checking or playing a station you added | A normal connection request. Your coordinates are not included. |
| Map link services | Pasting a map link or Plus Code to add a speed camera | The link or place name you pasted. Your coordinates are not included. |
Any service you connect to can see your IP address and basic connection details, and an IP address can indicate your general area. Each service handles that information under its own privacy policy.
Permissions
| Permission | Why it is used |
|---|---|
| Location | Current speed, speed camera and weather alerts, forecasts, parking and location sharing. Location is used only while the app is in use, including through CarPlay. |
| Microphone and speech recognition | Voice Commands, only while you hold the button |
| Motion sensors | Estimating drowsiness, harsh driving and possible crashes. No camera or face detection is used. |
| Notifications | Car reminders, possible crash prompts and alerts sent to Apple Watch |
| Photos | Choosing a station logo. Only the photo you pick is used. |
The app does not access your contacts. You can change permissions at any time in iOS Settings, although the related features may stop working.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can remove individual records inside the app, or delete all app data by deleting WitDrive from your iPhone. Copies in your own backups follow your backup settings. Because the developer does not hold your data, there is no developer copy to access, correct or delete.
Apple
If you have agreed to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide the developer with anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. You control this in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security.
Children
WitDrive is made for drivers. It is not directed at children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes to this policy
This page will be updated if the way the app handles data changes, and the effective date above will change with it.
Help
Getting started
How do I add a radio station?
The app has no built-in stations. Open Radio, tap Add station, then paste a direct stream link or the station's web page. The app tries to find the stream for you. Only add stations you are allowed to listen to.
Why won't a station play?
The link may have changed, the station may be offline, or the page may not expose an audio stream. Some stations only allow listening on their own website or app, and these can't be played in WitDrive. Try the station's direct stream link if it has one.
How do I use WitDrive with CarPlay?
Connect your iPhone to CarPlay and open WitDrive on the car screen. You can play radio and use the driving features from there. Spoken alerts pause the radio briefly, and it resumes afterward.
How do I change the language or speed unit?
Tap the globe button on the home screen to switch between English and Thai. The speed unit (km/h or mph) is in the Driving Mode settings.
Driving Mode and speed cameras
Why doesn't Driving Mode start without CarPlay?
By default, Driving Mode and the alerts that rely on it run only while your iPhone is connected to CarPlay. This also applies to Rain/Storm Alerts, Drowsiness Alerts, Driving Score, Incident Log and Crash Detection. To use them without CarPlay, turn off the CarPlay requirement in the Driving Mode settings.
How do I save or add a speed camera?
While Driving Mode is running on CarPlay, tap the save camera button on the Now Playing screen to save your current position. To add one yourself, go to My saved speed cameras in the Driving Mode settings. You can enter coordinates or paste a map link, then optionally set a direction and speed limit. Tap a saved camera to edit it, or swipe left to delete it.
Can I change how early camera alerts appear?
Yes. Choose 300, 500, 800, 1,000 or 1,500 meters in the Driving Mode settings. The default is 800 meters.
Why did speed camera alerts turn off?
They switch off automatically in countries where camera warnings are not allowed, which currently include Switzerland, Germany, France and Cyprus. The app checks this on your device using approximate borders, so alerts may also switch off close to these borders. You are responsible for following local laws wherever you drive.
Why was there no alert for a camera I passed?
Built-in camera locations are community data that currently cover Thailand only, and they are updated only with new app versions. Coverage is incomplete. In other countries, alerts work only for cameras you add yourself. Never rely on the app to find every camera, and always follow the posted speed limit. You can also add cameras yourself.
Weather
I got a rain alert but it didn't rain. Why?
Rain/Storm Alerts use weather forecasts for points in a straight line along your heading, not along the actual road. Forecasts can be wrong, especially for fast-moving storms, so treat an alert as a likely condition and not a certainty.
Finding places
How do I find gas stations, EV chargers or rest stops?
Open Find Gas/EV/Rest Stops and choose a category. WitDrive opens the search in Apple Maps, so results and directions appear there.
Fuel and charging costs
How do I record fuel and electricity costs?
Open Fuel Log, which appears as Fuel & Charging Log for electric and hybrid cars. Tap the plus button and enter the details. Choose Plug-in hybrid as your vehicle type if you want to record both fuel and charging.
Where can I see statistics and graphs?
The log shows your monthly costs for the last 6 months. Tap View all statistics to choose 6 months, 1 year or 2 years, and to see totals, prices and efficiency.
Why is the efficiency graph empty?
Efficiency is calculated from one full tank or full charge to the next. Enter your odometer reading and mark the entry as full at least twice in a row.
Safety features
Will the app call for help automatically?
No. If Crash Detection finds a possible crash, it only shows a prompt, and you decide whether to call. Emergency SOS also lets you choose whether to call or send your location.
Why did I get a false crash or drowsiness alert?
These features are estimates from the phone's motion sensors. Rough roads or sudden traffic can cause false alerts, and real events can be missed. Crash Detection requires recent driving speed to reduce alerts from dropping your phone.
Why doesn't the app find my location?
Go to iOS Settings, find WitDrive, then allow Location access while using the app. It may also take longer indoors or with a weak GPS signal.
Why doesn't my Apple Watch show anything?
Make sure the WitDrive Watch app is installed and the feature is turned on in the Driving Mode settings. Live speed and wrist alerts appear while Driving Mode is running.
